Sacramento Massage Parlors: Dixon to think on allowing ink

A staff report outlines the conditions of approval, which include, that no one under 18 years of age nor anyone suspected of being under the influence of alcohol will get a tattoo. Additionally, potential customers would be provided with information about body art/tattoos and the proper post-procedure care.
Also, all customers would be required to sign a release so they are completely aware of the effects of the body art procedure and receive adequate disclosure of the anticipated outcomes.
Dixon residents John and Cheryl Noutary, who oppose the proposed tattoo studio, sent a letter to the city asking, “Do you really think that is how we, the citizens of Dixon, would like to present our city to the many passers-by traveling on the freeway?”
They went to write that, “Allowing this permit could also set a precedent for other businesses with questionable practices, like pawn shops, massage parlors, etc., to get a foothold in our city. Surely, you

Sacramento Adult Entertainment: Legal pot would solve problems: Letters for July 22, 2009

Filed under: Sacramento adult entertainment — mrparty @ 1:02 am and

The U.S. has spent billions of dollars incarcerating and imprisoning pot smokers. Legalization wouldn’t just save money, by taxing it, California would generate over a billion dollars each year. It would help tremendously to neutralize drug cartels, the violence associated with them, and slow the roll of the street gangs. If the politicians she sometimes praises and defends did their jobs, this topic wouldn’t even be on the table for discussion.

California will legalize everything
The latest news item in the state budget crisis is the possibility of legalizing marijuana to generate tax revenues. The thought process in Sacramento has all but vanished. What’s next, Arnold? Legalizing prostitution? Maybe it’s time to do to this governor what was done to the last one, or have we all forgotten?

Sacramento Escorts: Conflicted no more? Churches weigh where gay, lesbian people fit in

… We don’t want to single out homosexuality; the Bible lists a lot of different kind of sins,” Taylor said. “I don’t think we need to be on any kind of rampage or campaign to stamp out homosexuality anymore than any other sin.”
As far as homosexual pastors and church leaders, he said, “I think the New Testament is very clear that the character and conduct qualifications for church leaders are very high. One particular biblical qualification is that they are above reproach; those who are living lives of character and integrity. If someone is opening living in a known sin, they cannot be in church leadership.”
Watson said the whole idea of sexual orientation is fairly new.
“There was no such understanding of sexual orientation,” she said. “When the Bible speaks of homosexual relations, it’s talking about temple prostitution.”

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) ―
A 22-year-old man convicted of gunning down a newspaper circulation manager in Sacramento during a robbery attempt has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Sacramento Superior Court Judge Lloyd G. Connelly told Rashard Delrico Mack on Thursday that his conduct was “reprehensible and foolish” in the shooting death of 36-year-old Jesse Reiter.
Reiter was the circulation manager at the Davis Enterprise newspaper when he was killed in 2007. Prosecutors said Reiter and a friend had been drinking at bars and a strip club when a man lured them into a robbery setup.
Jurors found Mack shot and killed Reiter when he tried to resist the robbery.
Mack’s co-defendant, Ulysses Peter Walker, is set to be retried in August after another jury deadlocked.

Police make arrest in prostitution case
Roseville Police officers arrested two hotel guests on suspicion of prostitution early Tuesday morning.
A tip from an anonymous source led officers to the 1900 block of Taylor Road to a Roseville hotel to arrest Nicole Marie Dunlap of Elk Grove for two previous bench warrants from Placer County for vandalism and transportation or sales of a controlled substance.
Officers then found cash and evidence on Dunlap’s cell phone that led them to believe she had been offering prostitution services through an online Web site.
Roseville resident Jeffrey Warren Cheek was arrested on suspicion of soliciting a prostitute and was released later that day with a citation to appear after posting $2,500 bail.
After searching Dunlap’s room, Roseville police seized methamphetamine paraphernalia and arrested Fremont residents Larry David Vigil and Francisco Soto. Both men were held at the Roseville City Jail before being released Tuesday on citation to appear.

Is El Dorado Hills growing too fast?

Annie Ball, 13, left, and Valerie Sterling, 12, enjoy a soft-serve ice cream cone on a warm summer evening in El Dordado Hills Town Center.
Editor’s note: This is the first in a two-part series examining growth in El Dorado Hills.
Recent headlines about murder, prostitution and drug busts may be commonplace in large cities, but the trend seems to be catching up to this rural community.
El Dorado Hills is home to 36,000, many of whom moved here to escape drug problems, heavy crime and heavier traffic in larger metropolitan areas.
Newcomers aside, how has El Dorado Hills fared in the eyes of the citizens who’ve lived here for years and what is the envisioned the town becoming? Responses are mixed, but all in all, few are ready to escape to perceived greener pastures, though they admit to some disappointments in what the community has become.

Sacramento Escorts: ABC furloughs may impact efforts to enforce state liquor laws

She said ABC traditionally makes alcohol violation arrests, issues citations, and conducts hearings and investigations that can lead to the liquor license of businesses being suspended or revoked.
“It’s always been a plus to have ABC out there helping us,” Dye said. “We’re coming into a time of year when we could really use their help.”
Labor Day weekend, the first week of classes at Chico State University, and Halloween have historically seen a heavy presence by ABC officers in Chico.
Dye said a grant that covered an ABC liaison officer for the Chico Police Department ran out in 2004, but cooperation between the two agencies has remained solid.
In a press release issued Wednesday, the California Association of State Investigators stated that due to the nature of their work, ABC officers often investigate crimes involving drug dealing, prostitution and stolen property fencing rings.

Alcohol Beverage Control Affected by Furlough Days
RANCHO MIRAGE - Shelley Bishop has spent the last 25 years as an investigator with the Department of Alcohol Beverage Control, California’s vice unit. It keeps an eye on businesses with liquor licenses.
For ABC investigators, it’s a dangerous job. They’re watching stores to make sure alcohol isn’t being sold to kids. They go undercover to bust drug and prostitution rings.
Bishop says adding to the danger are the furloughs, now three Fridays every month.
“We can’t do our job effectively with…it’s hard to begin with, now near impossible,” Bishop noted. ”Kids every day of the week are out there trying to buy alcohol. Drug dealers don’t know days of the week. They know when products are ready and when they can sell it. Same thing with prostitutes.”
There are less than 150 investigators for the entire state. They have to cover more than 80,000 businesses with liquor licenses.
