Sacramento Strip Clubs: THURSDAY MORNING NEWS ROUNDUP

Filed under: Sacramento strip clubs — porsche @ 6:00 pm and

A Tenderloin strip club was officially closed for a year in a San
Francisco Superior Court order Wednesday because of what City Attorney Dennis
Herrera said was a “significant threat to public safety” in the neighborhood,
including being the site of a fatal shooting in June.
The Pink Diamonds Gentlemen’s Club, located at 220 Jones St., had
experienced a pattern of lawlessness in the months following a March
injunction filed against the club, and is legally prohibited from reopening
for one year, according to the city attorney’s office.

A judge in August separately granted a motion by Herrera to close
down a North Beach strip club, Heaven Mini Theatre, for violating city codes.
That club had been cited by police for prostitution and implicated in the
non-fatal shooting of two doormen at a nearby strip club.

Sex ad spurs court order
October 29, 2009 04:48:00 PM
A single mother who says men from Yuba, Sutter and Sacramento counties contacted her after her picture and phone number were on an Internet ad for prostitution has won a temporary restraining order against two Olivehurst residents she says placed the phony ad.
The woman, who describes herself as an honor roll student at Yuba College, said she had to get a new cell phone number because of more than 30 phone calls and text messages from men after the ad appeared in September.
“It was all day for two days straight,” she said Thursday of the contacts.
The Craigslist posting was able to include her cell phone number in listings that omit such information by spelling out the numbers, the woman said.

… While working at these government run facilities,” said Fogt, “Alcorn realized the girls that were involved in drug use, prostitution, abuse and crime would return to their destructive lifestyles as soon as they were released from custody. Time and time again, she saw the same girls coming back to the correctional facilities with the same charges they had previously faced. Nancy knew that only Jesus could bring restoration into the lives of these girls who were so desperately hurting. God was calling her to step out and do something to help these women in need. In 1983, a friend convinced her to move to Monroe, Louisiana. She was struck by the number of kids in need there and the lack of resources to help them, so she bought a small home and began what she hoped would be an alternative to secular treatment.”

EDITORIAL: Oak Park gets a jolt of needed new soul
Oct 24, 2009 (The Sacramento Bee – McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) –
OAPK | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating — In struggling Oak Park, the 40 Acres complex at 35th and Broadway marked the beginning of big hopes for a neighborhood renaissance.
A coffee shop, an art gallery, a theater, a bookstore, a barbershop and upstairs apartments opened in 2003 in the newly renovated 1915 Woodruff Hotel, a building that had once been home to drugs and prostitution.
The corner coffee shop was a key part of that renaissance, bringing unity to the neighborhood.
It was a place, like a post office or drugstore (but better), where people could gather easily and regularly. A place where everybody over time could know just about everybody and newcomers always were welcome.

Sacramento Adult Entertainment: EGHS grad and photographer Andri Tambunan shares world experiences

Filed under: Sacramento adult entertainment — mrparty @ 9:13 am and

Andri Tambunan is recovering from his yearlong trip around the world.
Being witness to the Mumbai, India, terrorist attacks, meeting teenage HIV/AIDS-infected prostitutes and witnessing the ceremonial burning of the last king of Bali can harden a person.
“I’m much more in control of my emotions,” he said.
After photographing some of the most infamous events last year, the former Elk Grove resident said he is changed from the experience. For better and worse.
He saw a man shot and killed in Mumbai, and met orphans in Bali, Indonesia. But Tambunan felt comfort in knowing that he could document it for the world to see.“These people- they don’t have a voice and I have that voice,” he said. “I’m the medium to tell their story.”Tambunan, who graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1999, left Elk Grove last year to escape the everyday hustle and bustle that can be uninspiring and materialistic, he said.He cashed in his 401(k) and took the trip of a lifetime around the world. The Sacramen …

Sacramento Escorts: Gay Rights Activists Take Aim At Nightclub

Filed under: Sacramento escorts — escortingsacramento @ 6:48 pm and

Gay rights activists plan to travel to Elk Grove Township tomorrow night (Friday) to protest a policy at Hunter’s Nightclub requiring patrons entering the self proclaimed gay bar to show identification matching their “gender identity.”
Patrons who go to the club often do so in “drag”. Club managers say they need to see ID’s for patrons that accurately match their physical presentation to cut down on underage drinking and prostitution.
A Cook County Sheriff’s Police spokeswoman said the club has been located in Elk Grove Township for decades and has had no problems with prostitution or underage drinking they are aware of. Activists object to the club’s policy and plan to go to the club tomorrow night en masse, dressed in drag, with ID that will not match their “gender identity.”

Sacramento Adult Entertainment: Preseason Game #4: Warriors-Kings Recap

Filed under: Sacramento adult entertainment — mrparty @ 5:13 pm and

… Jason Thompson’s 20-20 game against Anthony Randolph was a nice thing to see for him. After Randolph exploded in the summer league against Thompson, there were plenty of murmurs around Las Vegas that the Kings picked the wrong guy. I have always contended that they didn’t. Randolph is a lot of hype and some of it will end up being warranted. But Thompson is a sure thing. Is he a sure thing like he’s going to be Karl Malone? No. But is he a sure thing like he’s going to eventually be a double-double machine and have the ability to get you a bucket in the post when you need it? Yes, that’s going to be what he gives the Kings. I’ll always take the sure thing over the hype. Hype dazzles in summer league games that take place in cities where prostitution is legal. Sure things get it done in actual game settings.

Sacramento Adult Entertainment: Ghosts roam Old Sac

Filed under: Sacramento adult entertainment — mrparty @ 1:13 am and

The ghosts sat around Old Sac in dresses with petticoats and old-fashioned suits, talking about how they died as if no one were around.
Eleven stories were told, including one as recent as 1998 that still spooks audiences of the Eagle Theater. None of the stories were revealed as true or false until the end of the tour, when all but one story was said to be true. The veracity of the remaining tale remains unknown.
A veiled woman in a black dress guided the tour, telling ghost stories and jokes. The group moved in a circle around Old Sac, stopping at sites such as the old bath building, Lady Adams building and a decorated cemetery. A visit to the old brothel included a lively interaction with owner Madam Johanna, who shared details about her death after chasing a customer who failed to pay.

Sacramento Escorts: ‘Need A Hooker’ Sign Spotlights Problem

Filed under: Sacramento escorts — escortingsacramento @ 4:25 am and

The prostitutes in his neighborhood, he said, have the best prices around. He wants the Sacramento City Council to deal with the problem.

KCRA 3 went to Broadway and 1st Avenue, where there was a prostitute named Shelly. She had a much different message.

Shelly said that police are cracking down on prostitutes and told KCRA 3 she was busted twice last week.
Many Oak Park residents told KCRA 3 there is still a problem with prostitution, but it is getting better.

The Sacramento Police Department said budget issues have forced officers to patrol for prostitutes differently. The vice unit is no longer targeting prostitution.
“The responsibility of working prostitutes is falling on our POP teams,” said Sgt. Norm Leong, a police spokesman.
POP, or Problem Oriented Policing, is a system in which certain officers work closely with residents to target whatever problem the neighborhood is having, such as prostitution.
