Reaux has an accomplished international performance resume with serious Weill-Brecht connections. Her understanding of composer Weill and dramatist Brecht raises the level of this extremely well-cast and well-sung production through a series of consistent artistic choices.
Set in a comically mannered London underworld, the well-heeled crook and pimp Macheath (a.k.a. Mack the Knife) gets married, then betrayed, and finally providentially avoids the gallows. As Macheath, the full-voiced Michael RJ Campbell flourishes with his most restrained and most effective performance to date.

A man was arrested on suspicion of pimping and drug possession after a Roseville police officer followed up on a Craigslist ad of someone offering prostitution services in the Roseville area, according to a police spokeswoman.
Efrain Augustine Aguilar, 27, of Sacramento was booked into Placer County jail on Tuesday, jail records. He was being held on $25,000 bail.
The officer answered the ad and arranged to meet the suspect at a hotel, said Dee Dee Gunther, police spokeswoman.
When officers arrived, they also contacted Aguilar in an adjacent room, and suspected him of pimping (being financially supported by the prostitute’s work), she said.
Aguilar also possessed methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, she said.

Oak Park residents fed up with prostitutes and pimps
SACRAMENTO, CA —  Felix Bunac gestures angrily down Parker Avenue in front of his house, where he says hookers ply their trade both day and night.
“They park from right over here, to right over here, the used condoms you see here all the time,” Bunac said.
This small section of Sacramento’s Oak Park neighborhood has been home to prostitution along Stockton Boulevard for years.
But neighbors say it’s getting worse as police and sheriff’s budgets are shrinking. “There’s been times when I’ve called because they’ll park on the side and nobody comes,” said a young woman who didn’t want her name used.
Sacramento Police Department spokeswoman Laura Peck acknowledges the department’s budget for vice enforcement has been cut, but said neighbors still need to do their part.

Tahiti Iti featured elaborate décor (tables of “Tahitian Tapa tree bark”) drinks such as the Koko Kiki and a Tahitian chef.
Tahiti Iti morphed into a strip club. That, too, closed and was moved in 1970 to the grounds of St. George’s southside church.

One young prostitute, who called herself “Amber” said she and the others are just trying to make a living, and she had little sympathy for frustrated neighbors. “They should move, get away from this neighborhood if they don’t like it,” she said.
In the past, Amber said, enforcement was tougher, but said she would simply spend a night in jail and be right back on the streets. She said she doesn’t expect anything to change now. “It’s still gonna be here. This is Stockton (Boulevard). And what else? You’re still gonna see (prostitutes) out here.”

Every prominent Oakland resident who have been waiting for a glorious change for Oakland should be promoting all efforts to obtain Prince Frederic von Anhalt as their next mayor.  What a great change this will be for Oakland to be known as the city of the Prince, and be the envy of the bay area, especially San Francisco.  Oakland supporters should do their best to encourage or rather beg Prince Frederic to run for mayor of Oakland. Actually Prince Anhalt would be a perfect fit as Oakland mayor if you align his platform with the general attitude of an Oakland citizen. Let’s look at his actual platform which may actually interest you even if you’re not a resident of Oakland.

Sacramento, CA – If you’re asking “what will Zsa Zsa Gabor’s husband do next?,” how about: run for governor of California? It’s true. Prince Frederic von Anhalt has joined the California governor’s race. His political platform includes legalizing marijuana and prostitution, lifting the import ban on Cuban cigars, and then taxing them all.
He says he wants “to make life good again, like it was 26 years ago” when he came to California. Von Anhalt is from Germany. He flew to Sacramento yesterday from his home in the upper-crust Bel Air area of Los Angeles to file his candidate papers. He had several campaign aides with him. No word what his wife thinks of his latest move. Arnold Schwarzenegger can’t run for governor again because he’s served the maximum two terms.

Von Anhalt and his attorney said they will file his candidate papers in late morning at the secretary of state’s office in Sacramento.
If he follows through, von Anhalt would be the only independent in a field that includes Republicans Meg Whitman and Steve Poizner and the presumed Democratic candidate, Attorney General Jerry Brown.
He already has a platform (titled “Return the Good Life to California”) that is sure to win favor with a certain segment of California’s electorate. He wants to lift the import ban on Cuban cigars, then tax them, and reduce vehicle-registration fees, making up the difference in part by taxing “bad drivers.”
He also is offering what he says are realistic proposals that will have an immediate effect on California’s $20 billion budget deficit.
One proposal is a “sin tax” on alcoholic beverages and cigarettes, as well as marijuana and prostitution, which, under his platform, would be legalized.

Frederic von Anhalt, self-proclaimed European royalty and Zsa Zsa Gabor’s eighth husband, is planning to run for governor of California, according to the Associated Press.
“I went through lots of things, lots of scandals, but that was yesterday, that’s old news,” von Anhalt says.
“Look at what Bill Clinton did in the White House. That was bad, but he got away with it. America gives you a break.”
If elected, he says he will legalize marijuana and prostitution and lift the ban on Cuban cigars.

Zsa Zsa Gabor’s most recent husband, who in 2007 said he might have fathered a child with Anna Nicole Smith, officially threw his bright red campaign cap in the ring as an independent Wednesday, saying he was inspired to run by watching Schwarzenegger’s mistakes. Last month he’d announced his gubernatorial aspirations and more recently expressed his intention, if elected, “to change and give up Hollywood — and mingle with the people, not the stars.”
Hollywood is, um, sure to miss him?
His website, which invokes the name of President Reagan, also offers this logic: “We’ve had Irish-American, African-American, Armenian-American and Austrian-American governors and now its time for a GERMAN-AMERICAN to lead the state.” 
So where does he stand on some of the issues? On illegal immigration: Legalize it, tax it. Marijuana: Legalize, tax. Prostitution: Legalize, tax. Cuban cigars: Legalize, tax. (We’re seeing a pattern here.)
