Pimp jailed for 19 yrs for child sex trafficking

SACRAMENTO, CA, Feb 17 (IBNS) United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced that Stephen McKesson, 24, of Citrus Heights, was sentenced today by United States District Judge Garland E. Burrell Jr. to 235 months in prison and restitution of $20,000 for sex trafficking of children by force, fraud, or coercion.
McKesson pleaded guilty on May 19, 2009.
This case was the product of an extensive investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Sacramento Sheriffs Innocence Lost Task Force.
According to Assistant United States Attorney Kyle Reardon, who prosecuted the case, McKesson pleaded guilty to transporting the victim, a 16-year-old Sacramento female, from Sacramento to Redwood City for the purpose of prostitution.

What’s PG&E got against reporters?
The utility has hired local political consultant David Townsend—the man who got Kevin Johnson elected mayor—to pimp its Proposition 16, the measure PG&E put on the June ballot to make it nearly impossible for public utilities like SMUD to start up or expand.
Late last month, Townsend agreed to a debate with state Sen. Mark Leno about the merits of Prop. 16, to be held in the Sacramento at a meeting of the Northern California Power Agency, which represents public power providers in California.
The weekly newspaper San Francisco Bay Guardian figured the meeting—of public power providers, about a public ballot measure, with public officials in attendance—would be, you know, public.
In fact, Sen. Leno invited the Guardian’s reporter, Brady Welch, to drive up to lovely Sacramento to check it out.

Rosemont Mine Update: Senate President Burns Backtracks; Giffords Weighs In

Dan Shearer of the Green Valley News, with help from a hardworking UA journalism student on assignment at the state Capitol, continues to follow the news that Republican leaders at the Legislature are pimping on behalf of the Rosemont Mine, much to the dismay of state Sen. Jonathan Paton, who is well aware that the mine is unpopular among his Green Valley constituents.
Arizona Senate and House leaders praised the proposed Rosemont Copper mine as “a tremendous economic opportunity” in a letter to a federal official this week, saying they were writing “on behalf of the Arizona State Senate and House of Representatives.” But after a day filled with criticism from Southern Arizona lawmakers, they backpedaled, saying the issue was “not as simple as we first thought.”

The city of Sacramento on Monday announced that it is seeking applicants for $12 million in low-interest bonds provided by the federal stimulus package for private development projects.
The bond financing stems from the Recovery Zone Facility Bond program, which is a low-cost financing mechanism for ready-to-build projects. Cities and counties were granted the authority to issue these bonds to stimulate development.
The city issued the notice Monday and is seeking letters of interest.
Sacramento will be a “conduit” issuer of the bonds, but the funding is not a grant and the city is not “backing” the bond. Borrowers must have the ability to secure a letter of credit from a rated bank or commitment from an institutional investor.
Projects that do not qualify under federal rules are residential rental properties, golf courses, country clubs, massage parlors, hot tub facilities, suntan facilities, racetracks, gambling facilities or liquor stores.
