Cops: 2004 cold case Sacramento murder solved
SACRAMENTO, CA – A tip from a citizen and forensic evidence helped Sacramento homicide detectives make an arrest in a six-year-old murder.
Detectives arrested Ignacio Bulahan Friday for the May 19, 2004 stabbing death of Thyotis Jackson, 22, said Sgt. Norm Leong with the Sacramento Police Department.
Jackson was found facedown near Broadway and 1st Avenue just after 12:30 that May morning, said Leong. At the time, Leong said investigators believed Jackson was working as a male prostitute dressed as a woman when he was involved in a dispute with his assailant.
The case stalled until 2009 when a witness came forward with information that led detectives to identifying Bulahan as a suspect, Leong said. Evidence gathered at the murder scene further tied Bulahan to the crime, Leong said, and detectives arrested him on the 3500 block of 1st Avenue without incident Friday morning.
