“We’re going to follow this investigation wherever it leads,” he said.

Vallejo’s city leaders have approved a five-year budget blueprint as part of its bankruptcy exit, which they hope to be finalized this summer. The budget plan anticipates no growth in the city work force, rebuilding its reserves and reducing employee benefits – including retiree health care contributions, which will be reduced from $1,500 a month to $300 a month.
The city also intends to defer debt repayments from the general fund until 2013. The city expects to pay only up to 20 percent of the $2.7 million owed in accrued leave time earned by employees who retired in recent years.
Some are optimistic the city will rebound in time.
David Corbett, a Vallejo-based writer, said he’s inspired by the dozens of neighborhood watch groups that have sprouted in response to police cutbacks, and he’s encouraged by local artists trying to reclaim downtown from the ravages of decay and prostitution.

The former head of the Contra Costa County drug task force may have run a Pleasant Hill brothel.
According to KGO, former Antioch police officer and private investigator Chris Butler claims in a 34-page statement that he and the task force’s former leader Norman Wielsch ran a brothel on Gregory Lane called “My Devine Skin.” CBS reported that over a period of nine months between 2009 and 2010, neighbors at the office park repeatedly compained to police about scantily-clad women working in the building and their high number of male visitors.
“(The women) were scantily dressed, provocatively dressed. Always totally made up… I thought it was prostitution for sure,” Dr. David Atkinson, a nearby chiropractor, told reporter Joe Vasquez.

Wielsch’s attorney, Michael Cardoza, refuted the brothel allegations, accusing Butler of making up the story to reduce his anticipated prison sentence.
