Sacramento Escorts: Stockton prostitution sting cites 21 people
STOCKTON, Calif.—A sting in Stockton nets nearly two dozen people for trying to pick up prostitutes.
As part of the operation, the Stockton Police Department on Wednesday placed undercover officers posing as prostitutes on street corners and other high-traffic spots.
By day’s end, authorities had cited 21 people for soliciting prostitution from undercover officers.
Police say it’s important to go after prostitution despite deep budget cuts because it generates other crimes. Police Vice Sgt. Jim Chraska said prostitutes are beaten and robbed and often targeted by rapists.
